A 13-3 week for me puts Andy and myself back to even with each other for the year, both at 21-11, as he finished one game back at 12-4.   This week…well, looks like we’ll be even headed into week 4 as well, as we had one of those rare weeks (maybe 1-2 times a season) in which we both picked every single game the same.  Of course, when that happens, we usually end up 8-8—so if you can figure out where we’re wrong, let us know in the comments.

Game of the Week: Houston @ New Orleans – Should be an aerial show with two high powered offenses led by upper echelon quarterbacks with strong supporting casts and historically suspect defenses.  The Texans have a stronger running game, even with Arian Foster potentially out, while the Saints passing attack is probably stronger, even without an Andre Johnson-like star at receiver.

Houston dismantled the Colts week 1, and beat a better than expected (so far, not saying much) Miami team in week 2. The Saints took the Packers to the wire before losing week 1, and dismantled the Bears (who beat Atlanta, who beat the Eagles), this should be a solid matchup.

Runner up: New England @ Buffalo (would elevate it to Part 2 if we really thought the Bills had a chance).

Game of the Weak: Kansas City @ San Diego – Some weeks this is ugly team vs. ugly team. While there are a couple of those this week (San Francisco @ Cincinnati, the surprising Panthers hosting the less-surprising Jaguars), this week we’re going with what should be yet another beat down.

Sometimes, when I see a game that appears to have no alternative, I recommend betting the unthinkable alternative—I’ve actually won some parlays with that thinking.  Even my admittedly flawed logic can’t figure out a way to make it look like Kansas city has a shot in this one—the Chiefs have looked terrible and have lost three key players to season-ending knee injuries, while coach Todd Haley appears to be close to losing the team—if he hasn’t already.  I’m not even sure Chiefs or Chargers fans will really want to watch this one.
