I feel good about the first dozen or so of these guys, but there is a lot of risk with virtually everyone else for various reasons. Things have gone so topsy-turvy that I’ve got backups (Danny Woodhead) ranked ahead of the starters (Ryan Mathews). David Wilson owners, I’m happy to report that he faces Philadelphia twice in the next four weeks. If he doesn’t prove useful in those games, it’s time for a trip to Dropsville.

It takes a LOT for me not to rank Calvin Johnson as the top receiver. Vincent Cruz facing the Eagles happens to qualify as “a lot.” I’m obviously not terribly excited by the return of Justin Blackmon, though that’s due more to my conservative “wait and see” approach than anything about his talent. Roddy White continues to creep back into usability territory, though I think he’s best served getting back into lineups Week 7 following Atlanta’s bye.

Dan Carpenter couldn’t keep a job this preseason, but he’s now got at least three field goals made in three straight games. Nick Novak, Graham Gano and Nick Folk are all good waiver wire gets as well.

Not a lot of matchups I love this week. Most of the really good defenses are playing against some pretty explosive offenses. If you’re looking for a good plug-and-play, give the Titans a spin. They’re a legit D playing at home against a good-not-great offense.
