Hmm.

We may need to hire an oversight editor. Contributor Rich won this Survivor Pool about a month ago, but his quest for a perfect season ended last week – not because he missed a game, but because he duplicated a previous pick.

We’re low tech and low budget here at Zoneblitz. We don’t have an alarm or anything to alert us to something like this, so if the posting editor gets busy and misses it … oops. Our bad.

At any rate, Rich has still picked each game correctly this season – and it’s still feasible that some people in survivor pools still had the Jets available to them last week. So … hopefully, no harm, no foul. Nonetheless – we’ll do better going forward.

Now, moving forward, everyone was correct in their picks last week except Andy. Andy isn’t doing much of anything right this season. Listen to everyone else.

Here’s where we are at:

Previously used
Rich NY Jets, New England, Seattle, Green Bay, NY Giants, Cincinnati (winner), Arizona, Kansas City, NY Jets (duplicate)
Tony Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Indianapolis, New England, Seattle (eliminated), Atlanta, Minnesota, Cincinnati
Maggio New England, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), NY Jets, San Diego (miss), Atlanta (miss), Cincinnati
Vomhof Green Bay, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), Minnesota, Arizona, St. Louis, Cincinnati
Andy Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (eliminated), New England, Atlanta, St. Louis, New Orleans (miss)

And here are this week’s picks:

This week’s pick
Rich Carolina
Tony Carolina
Maggio Green Bay
Vomhof Denver
Andy Cincinnati

Explanations:

Rich – Contributing writer and publisher and editor for SouthernMinn SCENE magazine

The Panthers have everything cooking right now. And by that I mean they have a great defense and possibly the hottest quarterback in the league. Cam looks like he has it figured out, which is very bad news for Tennessee.

Tony – Co-founder, web guru

Always dicey taking an 8-0 team, especially in what could easily be a trap game—on the road, rookie QB—but honestly, there’s something about this Panthers team that I like. And not just because Cam Newton is carrying one of my fantasy teams through a Matt Ryan doldrum.

Maggio – Fantasy editor

Not sure how I got this far into the season without using the Packers, but here I am. Feel pretty good about Green Bay at home against the hapless Lions. And hey, I actually got a pick right last week. Maybe I’m getting hot now.

Vomhof – Senior contributing writer

Denver has been all over the place the past few weeks, barely beating the Browns, pounding the Packers and then losing to the Colts. But the Broncos remain the NFL’s stingiest defense, and I’m betting on them to quiet Alex Smith and the Chiefs at home this Sunday.

Andy – Co-founder, editorial director

I keep thinking Andy Dalton is going to revert to what he’s been every other season, but so far he hasn’t. Can’t see the Texans making that happen. I was a Bengals doubter heading into the season. No more. I’m full-scale, 100 percent believer now. … So watch Dalton lay an egg on the big Monday night stage.
