Ok seriously – what the hell is going on with the NFL this season?

It’s early and it’s harder to make picks, but we’re nearing the season’s quarter pole – and none of us have really figured the league out yet this year. Six times last week every single one of us picked a game incorrectly. That’ll happen once in a while, but six times?

I’ve never had a season where 50-50 was the rule. Three of us went 8-8 in week three. Anthony really struggled, pulling up the rear at 5-11.

There will be no .500 marks this week. … That’s because the bye weeks start. So, here’s hoping we end up on the right side of the line. Here are the standings so far.

  Week 3 Overall
Vomhof 8-8 29-19
Tony 8-8 25-23
Andy 8-8 24-24
Maggio 5-11 20-28

Game of the Week: Carolina at Atlanta – This is a tough one. I don’t think this is going to be a particularly good game. I think the Falcons will be exposed in this game by an angry Panthers outfit. But this might be the single least compelling schedule of games the NFL has ever put together. Terrible. But we’re contractually obligated to have a Game of the Week, so we picked this one.

Game of the Weak: Detroit at Chicago – The Bears are putrid and boring. The Lions are at least entertaining – they can score like crazy but can’t defend anyone. There are some duds on the schedule this week, including the London game and the Saints/Chargers debacle. But the Lions/Bears divisional match-up between the kitties and the cubbies is a special kind of ick.
