All of a sudden Tony is on fire.

After a year-and—a-half of losing his hypothetical shorts, he’s hit six of his last eight bets and won back more than half of the bankroll he had almost entirely lost.

Andy keeps humming along, too, at a nice, slow rate of profit.

Here are the standings after week 8:

Last week Last week $ Overall Overall $ Total bankroll
Tony 3-1 +$2,521 12-20 -$4,368 $5,632
Andy 2-2 +$1,250 14-17-1 +$4,707 $14,707

Here are our week nine bets:

Andy: I’ve had a fair amount of success this season focusing big bets on the Patriots. New England is on a bye this week, so I’m not exactly sure what to do now… This looks like a challenging week.

$1,000 – Denver (Pick ‘em, -110) at Oakland – I know the Raiders are building a solid product here, but the defense is still a long way off. The Broncos should score enough so that the still world-class defense can hold on for a win. Really surprised Denver isn’t favored by at least a few points in this one.

$1,000 – Dallas (-7.5, even) at Cleveland – I do think the Browns are going to win a game at some point this season. Maybe even two. I don’t think it happens this week. Dallas is playing too well. Dak Prescott is clearly a smart QB. Ezekiel Elliott is the best Dallas runner since Emmitt Smith. And Jerry Jones letting his kid run the draft is the smartest move he has made since he hired Jimmy Johnson.

$750 – Buffalo at Seattle: Under 43.5 – Russell Wilson is beat up and Seattle’s offensive line is keeping it from being the odds-on NFC favorite for the Super Bowl. Buffalo is down Sammy Watkins and possibly LeSean McCoy. I expect a tightly contested, low-scoring game.

$300 – Indianapolis (+270 money line) at Green Bay – Okay, I don’t really think this is going to happen. But what the hell. On any given Sunday, Andrew Luck is good enough to beat any team in the league. Green Bay is banged up on defense and the Pack is still not playing as it has in years past. Why not?

Tony:

$1,000 – Indianapolis (+7, 105) vs. Green Bay – Andrew Luck hasn’t been great this year, but he’s been as good as Aaron Rodgers. Neither team has the defense to consistently stop the other. Should keep it interesting.

$600 – Philadelphia (+1, +105) vs. NY Giants – Even in New York, I’m surprised that the Giants are favored here. I’ll grab the point and hope for a positive payout.

$800 – Detroit vs. Minnesota: Under 41 (-110) – I do think the Vikings offense reverting somewhat to where it was in weeks 2-5, when it seemed like Pat Shurmer was running the show. Hopefully the defense does as well.

$500 – San Francisco (+175 money line) over New Orleans – The Saints have outplayed my expectations this year, but they’re on the road playing on grass this week.  Worth a shot.
