T.Y. Hilton recently told Indianapolis media that the Colts have three number one receivers this season – him, Reggie Wayne and
Hakeem Nicks. That’s unquestionably true about Wayne and Hilton and Nicks both have shown flashes of that kind of ability in the past. But Hilton, heading into his third season, also disappeared in many games last season, despite being the unquestioned top WR after Reggie Wayne injured his knee. So, does he step up in year three and become a true number one force? Or was 2013 the ceiling?
T.Y. Hilton
ADP: 69.4
WR: 23

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has already intimated that Indy may throw more this year. Hell, he’s going to be forced into it if Ahmad Bradshaw can’t stay healthy and Trent Richardson continues to suck—neither of which would come as a surprise. (more…)

Emmanuel Sanders hadn’t had more than 44 catches in a season before Mike Wallace left Pittsburgh for Miami in 2013. Sanders
spent his last season in the Steel City getting more playing time than ever and he rewarded the team with 67 catches, 740 yards and six scores.
Now Sanders has moved on to Denver where he’ll be catching passes from Peyton Manning. Will his numbers continue to skyrocket as he takes on the role previously held by Eric Decker? Or did his final year with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh expose Sanders’ ceiling?
Emmanuel Sanders
ADP: 85.6
WR: 32
Buy: Andy
Peyton Manning has thrown 92 touchdowns in two seasons since moving from Indianapolis to Denver. A record-setting 55 of those came last season when four receivers — Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker and TE Julius Thomas — each hit double-digits. (more…)

Steve Smith hasn’t been much of a fantasy factor for awhile now. His red zone opportunities have been swallowed up by guys like
Greg Olsen and he’s clearly been slowed by age.
But he’s moved on now to Baltimore where he no longer has to be the main cog in a passing game. Can he pick up the pace under the rocket arm of Joe Flacco and become fantasy relevant once again? Or is he hanging on too long, delaying the inevitable retirement in lieu of squeezing out one or two more years of paychecks?
Steve Smith
ADP: 126.4
WR: 46
Buy: Tony
Baltimore fans should get used to the name Smith being called this year—although that may have just as much to do with Torrey as it does with Steve, who joins the team in his 14th season. There’s no doubt that Steve Smith is not likely to be a WR1 candidate for the season, especially since his last truly relevant fantasy season was 2011, when he put up nearly 1,400 yards and 7 touchdowns. However, as a guy currently averaging 126 in overall draft position, there is some positivity—when was the last time Smith was on a team with more than one viable WR passing threat? Or a QB whose play calls seemed to read “Look for target receiver, then pull it down and run?” (more…)

There was a time, a time before “the cloud.” When the local fantasy website reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on podcasts. This was an age when only men were allowed to read fantasy news. And in Minneapolis, two podcasters were more man than the rest. Their names were Anthony Maggio and Bo Mitchell. They were like a gods walking amongst mere mortals. Their voices could make a wolverine purr and wore suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, “magsh” and Bo were the balls.
That doesn’t make sense?
OK, try this.

Atlanta’s Julio Jones was on fire at the beginning of 2013, tallying 41 catches in five games. Unfortunately that’s where it ended, as a
foot injury cost him the rest of the season. It was a down year overall for the Falcons. But there’s still plenty of offensive firepower in Hot-lanta and Jones is just the top target. Will he pick up where he left off and justify the lofty draft position he’s garnered thus far? Or will he need time to shake off rust, leaving fantasy owners frustrated?
Julio Jones
ADP: 23.2
WR: 6
Buy: Andy
Forget the broken foot. Julio Jones is set to return to the field in 2014 and set to do so in monster form.
Jones, whose sidekick Roddy White was hobbled all season with ankle problems in 2013, lit the Georgia Dome on fire in the five games he was able to play before getting hurt. In those games he not only had 41 targets, three 100-plus yard receiving games and a pair of scores, he had 9, 14, 12, 13 and 11 targets – yes, that’s right, he had 59 targets in five games, or just under 12 per game. With Tony Gonzalez gone does anyone think that number is going to go down? (more…)
