Just a quick post, as we need to get these up before the game starts tonight–we both continued our brutal seasons last week, each going 1-3, and both hitting our upsets of the week. So as long as we’re betting 5x the amount on our upsets as our regular bets, we’re doing good, right? So Andy is now 7-17 on the year, while I am 11-13.
Here we go again, on our own…

The futility continues. Both of us went 2-2 last week, which in Vegas means we lost. Tony’s at least still in the ballgame for the season with his 10-10 mark. If there were money on my picks, I’d be laying in an alley with my legs broken. I’m at 6-14.
Luckily there is nothing on the line but pride. We’ve never had much of that around here anyway.
So here we go again…

I’m going to admit upfront, if you’re using our picks as a basis for gambling on games so far this season, you’re making a big mistake.
I’ve been a disaster and that continued into week four, as my 1-3 took me to 4-12 for the season.
Tony has been better, but not good. His 3-1 brought him to 8-8 for the year.
I feel a turnaround coming sometime soon here, but you’ve been warned.
Here are our picks for week five.

After two terrible weeks, I at least achieved respectability in week three. I still hit just two of four bets, but I did nail my upset of the week, Kansas City’s win over New Orleans at +330.
Tony, on the other hand, has followed up a strong week one by posting two straight 1-3 marks – though he also hit his upset last week, with Cincinnati’s win over Washington.
He violated one of his cardinal rules last week—never bet on “my” team — especially the Vikings, as usually they’ll find a way to lose the bet and the game. At least last week, they only lost the bet. He still leads me by two for the season, however, with a 5-7 overall mark. The first two weeks were rough to me. I’m straggling at 3-9.
Still, there’s no giving up now. I feel it starting to come together. Here are our Best Bets for week four. (more…)

Good grief, what was I thinking last week. Hindsight is 20/20, but wow. Betting an over on a 51? That’s a huge number for an NFL game. Betting on Kansas City on the road coming off an awful week one performance? Not the strategy a fortune won at gambling is made of.
I paid the price with an 0-4 week, bringing my season total to 1-7. Tony’s misses were a little less stupid than mine, but he still was only 1-3, so his season total is 4-4.
We’ll still give it another go this week – but you might have better chances of winning big if you do the opposite of what we suggest.

Tony was the winner last week, hitting three of four picks, including an improbable over 38 on the Vikings/Jaguars game. Both of us fell victim to believing in the Buffalo Bills, a mistake nobody should make in this day and age. I was also unsuccessful in picking Detroit and Jacksonville for a 1-3 week. Better luck next time.
Year-to-date standings: Tony 3-1, Andy 1-3
