Season Kick-off: ZoneBlitz Picks

LAS VEGAS – All right, NFL season kick-off is just a couple hours away, so we figured we’d better get our picks posted.

There’s a bunch of different picks below–basically, Andy picks them, I pick them, you can see the ZoneBlitz picks that were submitted in a pick pool (along with where we ranked the games), and a ZoneBlitz pick against the spread.

In year’s past, we’ve used a few different methods for making our pick pool selections–from averaging our rankings, to just hashing them out over hours online–and we’ve not yet finished in the money (came in 3rd place one week last year, I believe). Which is too bad, because the pool is big enough that finishing in first for one week during the season doubles your entry fee back.

This year, at least to start the season, we went with a game draft–I won the coin toss, and elected to pick the first game (Indy over Chicago), Andy got to pick the next two, and we alternated from there.

As for the spread picks, pretty much going with Andy’s picks because I’m in the room typing this, and he’s at the tables right now, so we can’t argue about them. That’s why you’ll see some strange picks, like Cincinnati being our 13 point game in the pick pool, but taking the Ravens against the spread (Andy thinks the Ravens defense wins them the game–I think Joe Flacco keeps them from doing so).
