Well, last week we posted that we would have the same record heading into this week, as we picked all games the same—yet somehow, when we posted the picks, Tony’s pick in the Green Bay/Chicago game switched to the Bears.  Wishful thinking, apparently—not really sure where that came from.  That gave Andy the slight edge (9-7 vs. 8-8) in what was overall a terrible week for picks, and the season (30-18 vs. 29-19).

Week 4 gets a little more interesting, with seven games picked differently.  It’s early, but this week could be a key factor in the race for the pick crown in the Zoneblitz offices.

Game of the Week: New York Jets @ Baltimore – Last month, ESPN and the NFL announced an 8-year, $15.2 billion extension to the rights for broadcasting Monday Night Football. NBC’s deal for Sunday Night Football costs them about $603 million per year. ESPN is supposed to start getting wildcard playoff games in their new package. NBC gets to broadcast Super Bowls. ESPN gets the Peyton Manning-less Colts (0-3) visiting the sluggish (yet somehow 2-1 and division leading) Buccaneers.

NBC gets the NY Jets (2-1) at Baltimore (2-1). Oh, and if this was later in the season, and they had the Colts/Bucs matchup, they could switch it for another game.

Regardless, the Jets and the Ravens should be a solid matchup—the Jets are coming off of their first loss, and looking up at the Patriots (technicall) and the upstart Bills in the standings.  The Ravens have been dominant in two of their games—but laid an absolute egg in Tennessee week 2.

Game of the Weak: Minnesota @ Kansas City – How will the Vikings manage to blow a double-digit second half lead to a team that has averaged just 9 points a game?  The Vikings have been terrible in the second half of each game—but the Chiefs are on pace for an absolutely historically horrific season—their -82 point differential after 3 games translates to -437 points for the season if they can maintain that pace.  That would eclipse the current record (set in 1976 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by 150 points.  Something’s gotta give—my best guess is that it will be fans’ wills to watch.
