What does Ben Tate’s release mean for Crowell/West?
I have Brees vs. Ravens and Romo vs. NYG to choose from this week. You have Brees @#4 and Romo @#15 in your QB rating. The home field mystic for NO no longer exists, and I’m tempted to go with Romo against NYG. How do you justify Brees’ rating against the Ravens?
Something did get screwed up with my QB rankings. Not sure what happened there. Fixed now.
Anyway, with Tate gone, there’s a lot more clarity obviously on a weekly basis. I think both guys will get work, and it might see-saw back and forth (we’ll see this week how much work Crowell gets), but even if that happens, there’s a little less risk in starting both guys because there’s a larger share of work for each.
As for the Brees/Romo question, something’s obviously not right with the Saints, but I’m not going to jump off the Brees bandwagon after one bad home game. Before last week he had 10 touchdowns and averaged more than 300 yards passing in his other four home games. Losing Cooks hurts, but this team has been too good on offense for too long for me to pump the brakes more than I did already with Brees at 5. Romo did play well against the Giants at home a month ago, but I think coming off the bye they’ll be running a ton, and effectively, in this one. Romo COULD throw 3 TDs against them again, but I expect a lower yardage total by a decent amount compared to Brees, lowering his floor.
Defense question. I currently have the Colts and Redskins D in a 14 team Standard league. I’m looking ahead to the playoffs, specifically weeks 15 and 16. The Colts have Hou and @Dal for weeks 15 and 16; the Redskins: @NYG and Phi. My free agent adds are limited, but I’m looking at the Titans who have NYJ and @Jac. My only other options are the Bucs: @Car and GB; Steelers @ Atl and KC; Jets @Ten and NE. Not pretty, but I’m considering dropping the Reds for the Titans. What do you think of that? Thanks.
I wouldn’t consider the Jets at all, and I don’t like the Steelers at Atlanta Week 15. What I’d probably do is drop Washington and pic up the Bucs to get that Carolina game in week 15, then you can drop the Colts (or someone else) after week 14 to grab Tennessee for that JAX matchup.
