With our top four players (Mahomes, Henry, McKissic & Kupp) all in both of our lineups, not a terrible surprise that Week 16 was close–but Andy pulled it out, mostly thanks to a solid Logan Thomas performance.

Week 16 Season Total points Weekly average
Andy 123.82 10-6 2,156.2 134.76
Tony 114.52 6-10 1,949.1 121.81

This week Fanball can’t screw up the slate, since all games are on Sunday. Of course, a new thing that I’m not sure I like about their platform is that my LeagueSafe winnings are mixed in with my DFS winnings balance…I suppose it makes it easier to extract, but it sure did muddy up my tracking of just how poorly I was doing.

Andy: Week 17 is always a challenge. Throw in the pandemic and a lot of teams either alive for the playoffs or still jockeying to see what their seeding might be and this is an even more tricky final week than most. For example, with the Saints still having an outside shot at the NFC’s bye but Alvin Kamara ruled out early on the COVID-19 list, I initially had Latavius Murray as a play this week. But such is the 2020 season – and hopefully this won’t be an issue when 2021 rolls around.

QB – Deshaun Watson vs TEN – $8,000 – Watson has been on fire, with 25 or more points in five of the last six weeks. He finishes the season against a Tennessee team that has not been playing great defensively.

RB – J.K. Dobbins @ CIN – $6,600 – Slowly, the Ravens have been featuring Dobbins more and more in the offense. And he has 13-plus in four of the last five. Pretty good spot for him in week 17 with the Ravens still playing meaningful football and getting to finish up against Cincinnati. I expect a heavy dose of Dobbins today, especially with Gus Edwards banged up all week in practice.

RB – Antonio Gibson @ PHI – $6,800 – I am really excited to see what happens with Gibson next season, when I suspect the Football Team will start allowing the converted wide receiver to start using his WR skills catching the ball a bit more. With a win, the Football Team today wins the NFC Least. And I think Gibson will be a significant part of that victory.

WR – CeeDee Lamb @ NYG – $5,700 – After going silent mid-season while the Cowboys were forced to play the JV-squad QBs for a few weeks, Lamb has resurged at the end of the season. While I think Football Team eventually prevails in the NFC East, Dallas has gotten hot and given itself a chance in week 17. So, they’ll go all out to stay hot and win Sunday against a New York team that’s surge seemed to end a couple weeks ago.

WR – Stefon Diggs vs MIA – $8,500 – No one player has made a bigger difference than Diggs, who starting in week five has been almost a given for at least nine targets. He seems to be getting hotter as the games matter more and with a big game today, he could finish the season with double-digit touchdowns and a 100 ypg average. He’s been a monster and the team will need him to clinch the number two seed, which would guarantee home field in the playoffs up until a potential battle at Kansas City in the AFC championship game.

WR – A.J. Brown @ HOU – $7,600 – Tennessee is in the unique position of having a chance on Sunday to either win its division and host a playoff game or miss out on the playoffs altogether. I think the Texans will be motivated to try and knock them out. The Titans should win, but they’ll have to score in order to do so. Enter A.J. Brown.

TE – Mike Gesicki @ BUF – $4,900 – This isn’t my ideal play here. My preference today is Darren Waller. But I spent a bit bigger on Watson, Diggs and Brown, so needed to spend less here. Gesicki had a serviceable game last week returning from injury and I suspect the combination of his fairly strong combo with Tua and the Bills not being great against TEs give him a shot at a decent game.

Flex – Michael Pittman vs JAX – $4,500 – This is another low-dollar play. He’s getting a handful of targets most weeks and he gets to play against Jacksonville’s unmotivated defense as the Colts attempt to lock up a playoff spot and, potentially, a division title. Indy will likely avenge an inexplicable week one loss to the Jags in fine fashion, giving Pittman a shot at a bit of a breakout.

DST – NY Jets defense @ NEP – $2,400 – I’m not expecting a ton out of this spot. But the Patriots aren’t doing much on offense these days. If New York can just keep this a low-scoring loss and maybe recover a fumble or two, I’d be happy with this investment.

Tony: Finally, done with this miserable season…

QB – Kirk Cousins @ Det – $6,600 – He’s not likely to lead them to the Super Bowl anytime soon, but he’s been a solid fantasy quarterback, and he’s without Dalvin Cook this week–they’ll still run the ball with a Mattison/Boone combo, but Cousins will get his too.

RB – Derrick Henry @ Hou – $9,900 – Keep going with one of the guys that has helped make things respectable the last few weeks.

RB – D’Andre Swift vs vs Min – $6,900 – I’m not projecting an Alvin Kamara like day…half that performance would do.

WR – Calvin Ridley @ TB – $8,900 – Atlanta doesn’t have much to play for, but they’d love to beat a division rival to end the year. Ridley is their best bet for that.

WR – Jakobi Meyeres vs NYJ – $5,400 – Needed some cheap filler options towards the bottom of the lineup, so why not grab the guy that had a garbage time catch that cost my best dynasty team their championship this season?

WR/TE – Greg Ward @ Dal – $4,000 – I think it’s 3 weeks in a row that he fits this spot?  Didn’t do all that well last week, but more about guys who will be on the field at the $4k mark.

TE – Eric Ebron @ Cle – $4,500 – Well, it was a good concept until he got put on IR.

TE – Irv Smith @ Det – $4,400 – I don’t love stacking guys after the trouble I had with it earlier this season, but I’m not going to go too far diving for other options with Smith available for just $100 less than Ebron was.

FLEX – JK Dobbins @ Cin – $6,600 – Dobbins has largely taken on the lead role in Baltimore.

DST – Football Team @ Phi- $2,200 – Cheap, effective defense against a lower tier team. Sign me up. Again.
