In the spirit of the holiday season, our writers dialed in and gave you four decent selections for a survivor pool last week. Andy was the only Christmas dunce.

It gets to be pretty slim picking in week 17 – though there may be a couple sneaky plays left on your/our boards. Here’s who we’ve used during the first 16 weeks:

Previously used
Rich NY Jets, New England, Seattle, Green Bay, NY Giants, Cincinnati (winner), Arizona, Kansas City, NY Jets (duplicate), Carolina, Dallas, Oakland, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis (miss), New Orleans (miss), Houston
Tony Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Indianapolis, New England, Seattle (eliminated), Atlanta, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Carolina, Baltimore, NY Giants (miss), Washington (miss), Kansas City, NY Jets, Buffalo
Maggio New England, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), NY Jets, San Diego (miss), Atlanta (miss), Cincinnati (miss), Green Bay (miss), Carolina, Arizona, Washington (miss), Detroit (miss), San Francisco, Denver
Vomhof Green Bay, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), Minnesota, Arizona, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Denver (miss), Carolina, Jacksonville (miss), New England (miss), Denver (miss), NY Jets, Detroit
Andy Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (eliminated), New England, Atlanta, St. Louis, New Orleans (miss), Cincinnati (miss), Philadelphia (miss), NY Jets, Carolina, Detroit (miss), Minnesota, Pittsburgh (miss)

And here’s who we’re selecting in the final installment of the survivor pool for 2015:

This week’s pick
Rich Minnesota
Tony Tennessee
Maggio Pittsburgh
Vomhof Houston
Andy Houston

And here’s where we tell you why:

Rich – Contributing writer and publisher and editor for SouthernMinn SCENE magazine

Because I’m allowing myself to pick this one with my heart.

Tony – Co-founder, web guru

Mailing it in?  Looks like the only one mailing it in last week was the author. Rich, Maggio, Vomhof and I all hit our Week 16 picks. Week 17 gets to be a little bit tougher, but there’s one game that stands out like a sore thumb. Or sore kidney, perhaps.  Yes, the Titans are in line to possibly get the first overall pick. And yes, they are starting their backup quarterback. But you know what? I just got a phone call from a 317 area code, and I’m pretty sure it was Ryan Grigson calling to see if I’d be interested in strapping on the pads to play quarterback this week. And I was an offensive lineman…that didn’t play past high school.  The Colts are likely starting something called Stephen Morris, or Josh Freeman, who as of today isn’t even on their roster.

Maggio – Fantasy editor

I’m a bit surprised I haven’t picked them yet this season. Though I guess I shouldn’t be since I’ve only picked teams that lose games. Speaking of which, the Steelers were stunned by Baltimore in Week 16, so I’m counting on them smarting over that loss and blasting the Browns despite being on the road.

Vomhof – Senior contributing writer

The Texans have held their opponents to a combined 16 points the past two weeks, winning both to improve to 8-7 on the season. And they’ll have plenty to play for this week with the AFC South division title and a trip to the postseason on the line.

Andy – Co-founder, editorial director

It’s hard to believe I’m sitting here looking at picking a team that might be led by Brandon Weeden in a survivor pool, but it’s week 17 and the journeyman looked last week like he might actually be figuring the league out a bit. Anyway, the Texans probably advance to the postseason win or lose, but this team is on a hot streak and is fast becoming the proverbial “team nobody wants to play in the playoffs.” Jacksonville has cooled a bit after a minor hot streak a few weeks ago, so if the Texans show up to play, they should be able to put this one in the win column with relative ease.
