Seattle didn’t win by much, but the Seahawks did come through. So Anthony Maggio is still alive in our double-elimination survivor pool. And the rest of us hacks got it right too.
Here’s our advice for week 10 … follow it at your own peril.

Maggio: Baltimore over Tennessee

Teams used: NY Jets, Green Bay, Atlanta, San Diego, New Orleans, Denver, New England, Dallas, Seattle

I nearly broke the cardinal rule of survivor games and picked a road team this week considering the tear Ben Roethlisberger is on, but he’s gotta come down from that high at some point, and the Jets have to win at some point, right? I honestly don’t love Baltimore, but the Ravens are at home and Tennessee’s not very good–plus has a rookie making his second career start at quarterback. Based on previous picked teams, the winners I have for this week, and bye weeks, I only had seven teams to choose from. And I could come up with a good reason NOT to choose each of those squads for survivor pool purposes. But I’ve gotta pick someone, so Baltimore it is.

Consolation round (single elimination)

Tony: Record before eliminated: 0-2 (3-0 in consolation round)
Teams used: New England, Denver, Seattle

Arizona over St. Louis: This team is quietly been the best in the NFC, if not the league, despite  injuries. The Rams have played up to the competition some, but I don’t see it happening on the road in Arizona.

John: Record before eliminated: 4-2 (1-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Arizona, Dallas, Seattle

Eliminated again.

Who I would take if I was still alive: Pittsburgh over N.Y. Jets: The Steelers’ passing game, led by Big Ben and Antonio Brown, is on an absolute tear right now and the Jets’ woeful secondary isn’t capable of slowing them down.

Andy: Record before eliminated: 2-2 (0-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Seattle, Detroit

Eliminated again.

Who I would take if I was still alive: Denver over Oakland: I see I am starting to create my own rules for this, as I took Seattle for the second time in the consolation round last week. Maybe that’s why I suck at this? Oakland isn’t as bad as its record, but they’ve been on a tear in terms of running into powerhouse teams. The Broncos will be pissed after last week’s loss and they’ll take it out on Oakland this week.
