Alternative picks: Week 13, 2018

Tony had a pretty decent week in alternative picks, getting five of his seven correct. Andy was on fire, however, going 8-0, to land a fairly dominant win over the Thanksgiving break.

Here are the standings:

Here are this week’s alternative picks:

1) Andy: Chiefs over Raiders – Oakland might stick with them for a quarter or two in a rivalry game but the Chiefs just have too much firepower.

2) Tony: Rams over Lions – Matthew Stafford has to be one of the single biggest disappointments of 2018. Following not too far behind is Matt Patricia.

3) Tony: Panthers over Buccaneers – I’m a little hesitant to put too much faith in the Panthers…but not the Bucs.

4) Andy: Packers over Cardinals – Green Bay has turned average, but Arizona has turned way worse.

5) Tony: Saints over Cowboys – Dallas has really started to play better the last few weeks. Hopefully for them running into a buzzsaw tonight won’t totally kill their momentum.

6) Andy: Seahawks over 49ers – Seattle isn’t as good as it was a couple years ago during the Super Bowl run, but they’re sticking right around the playoff race. The 49ers aren’t.

7) Tony: Bears over Giants – Benefits of playing a 4th place schedule when you make improvements to your team, and the other 4th place teams don’t.

8) Andy: Titans over Jets – I can’t figure the Titans out. But I have figured the Jets out. They stink.

9) Tony: Eagles over Washington – Whichever team loses here can have a fork stuck in them, they’re done.

10) Andy: Broncos over Bengals – You’ll probably want to shut this game off early.

11) Tony: Colts over Jaguars – Two words: Cody Kessler.

12) Andy: Patriots over Vikings – Which Minnesota team shows up? The Patriots rarely lose at home as the calendar turns. Vikings will have to play better than they have … probably all season to pull off this win.

13) Tony: Texans over Browns – The Browns have been playing significantly better of late, so it wouldn’t shock me if they pulled out the upset, but not ready to pick them to win on the road against a hot Texans team.

14) Andy: Chargers over Steelers – Gut feeling. Could be indigestion.

15) Tony: Bills over Dolphins – Bills have won two straight, and are only a game back of being the team way behind the Patriots.

16) Andy: Ravens over Falcons – Coin toss.

It was a little bit rougher weekend for Tony in the straight-up picks. He went out on an island a couple times, as the only person to pick the Bengals, Lions and the Packers and he got nailed on all three. Here are those standings:
