Neither side is crushing anymore – it’s pretty much a back-and-forth slog. But Andy’s hanging on to the lead and he put a couple more games between he and Tony in week 14.

Week 14 Andy 8-6
Season Andy 106-101-1

It’s the last quarter of the season and the great teams are starting to separate a little bit from the not-so-great. Last week, for the first time in a while, results mostly matched what was expected in Vegas. Will that continue?

1) Andy – Cardinals over Lions – I just watched Arizona get beat by the Rams. They’re not flawless. But they’re really good. Detroit fights. But they aren’t really good. That will show here.

2) Tony – Buccaneers over Saints – The Bucs are 6-0 at home and can avenge one of their earlier season losses. Should be over by halftime.

3) Tony – Cowboys over Giants – Divisional games can always be tougher … but shouldn’t be in this case. Already have to wonder if the Giants will once again retool the coaching staff in the offseason … but it won’t help until they get more talent.

4) Andy – Bills over Panthers – I’m a little over Buffalo. They can’t run the ball or stop the run, so they’re pretty much pretenders as the postseason approaches. Luckily for them, Carolina doesn’t really run or throw all that well at this point.

5) Tony – Dolphins over Jets – Going strictly by point spread on this one–Miami is playing better, but I don’t have THAT much more faith in them. But the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS seem to be in a competition with the Giants to see which team can be the worst team in New Jersey …

6) Andy – 49ers over Falcons – Who’d have thought a month ago you’d be picking Miami that high, even against New York. Another relatively easy team to pick against, at least when not playing Carolina, is Atlanta. San Francisco has found its identity of late. When they went back to bludgeoning people with the run, they went back to winning.

7) Tony – Rams over Seahawks – Both teams are on two game winning streaks after reeling earlier in the year. But the Rams are at home, and aren’t trotting out Rashaad Penny, Alex Collins or Adrian Peterson. Only worry here would be the COVID situation in LA, although so far only two players with significant playing time are on the list.

8) Andy – Chiefs over Chargers – I like both teams’ futures. Currently, LA has been a bit inconsistent. Good game, bad game, two good games, a clunker. Kansas City has started winning with defense, but last week it started looking like the offense might be on the brink of snapping out of a season-long slumber. If both units get on track? Watch out, NFL. Here is your Super Bowl winner, again.

9) Tony – Packers over Ravens – I really, really hope I’m wrong on this one. The only reason (other than these picks) to hope that the Packers win and stay the top seed in the NFC is to watch them fall that much further in the playoffs…

10) Andy – Browns over Raiders – Las Vegas seems to be starting the free-fall. The Browns aren’t great, but they’re a game out of first place in the AFC North, so have reason to be motivated.

11) Tony – Eagles over Football Team – Purely going off the point spread here. Not sure I buy the Eagles by 6, but…not sure I like any of the rest of the games either.

12) Andy – Patriots over Colts – This isn’t the best team Bill Belichick has ever had. Not by a long shot. But this might be one of his best coaching jobs. The combination of a great defense, a solid run game and a smart rookie QB has worked wonders and they’re starting to peak. I don’t think they will beat the two or three best teams in the AFC this year, but there aren’t many teams they can’t play with. And I like them taking down Indy here.

13) Tony – Vikings over Bears – I looked closely at the Patriots for my last pick–not sure I get Indy being favored, other than the home field advantage. Here, I don’t like to pick the Vikings very often, but at least I know I can either get this right, or likely the final nail in an ugly season of a coffin is hammered the rest of the way in.

14) Andy – Titans over Steelers – Wow. Tony picking the Vikings. I don’t see it — I don’t think an undisciplined, undertalented collection of yokels on the purple’s defense this year can overcome whatever head game affects this team at Soldier Field. Minnesota is a different, much worse team on the road this year. I have no idea who wins the last three. Tennessee should beat Pittsburgh. That’s all I got.

15) Tony – Bengals over Broncos – Vikings vs Bears = Incompetence vs Incompetence. The Broncos are slight favorites at home, but basically a tossup. I’ll take the talent of their passing game over that of the Broncos.

16) Andy – Texans over Jaguars – There have been a few doozy games this season that few outside of family could care about. I think this has to be bottom of the barrel. Ultimately, Jacksonville players pretty much hate Urban Meyer. I think they might actually try to lose. So, as it turns out, the biggest kick former kicker Josh Lambo was involved in for Jacksonville was one he took rather than one he attempted. That’s all it took for the hated Urban Meyer to finally get fired? I’ll stick with my Houston pick in this one because, ultimately, who cares, but I am a little more worried that the Jags show up on Sunday to show up the old coach.

In straight-up picks, Tony probably has enough of a lead where it won’t matter, but Andy did pick up three games during a rough week for his brother. Still a pretty wide gap to make up, though.
