After a couple weeks of near competence, Andy struggled again in both straight-up and alternative picks.

Week Six Tony 8-6
Season Tony 52-42

Here are the alternative picks.

1 Andy – Rams over Lions – This game won’t generate quite the hype the Bucs/Patriots did a couple weeks ago, in part because neither Matt Stafford nor Jared Goff are Tom Brady, but also because Detroit is horrible and Los Angeles should win by 40.
2 Tony – Cardinals over Texans – Could this be a letdown game for the Cardinals? Yes. Could they still win this game, even if it’s a letdown game? Definitely.
3 Tony – Buccaneers over Bears – The Buccaneers are 5-1 and appear to be firing on all cylinders. The Bears…are not either of those things. I wonder how long a coach can influence a young quarterback before he is permanently damaged? Bears ownership should be asking the same question…
4 Andy – Panthers over Giants – Will New York ever win again? Probably not this week. In addition to not being very good, the Giants are missing their left tackle.
5 Tony – Packers over Football Team – The Football Team thought they were going to be a contender coming into the season. So far, they’ve eked out just two wins against terrible opponents. Will be interesting to see what they do when Ryan Fitzpatrick gets healthy.
6 Andy – Patriots over Jets – Will the Jets ever win again? Not this week. Bill Belichick beats rookie QBs even when they are good.
7 Tony – Raiders over Eagles – Someone tried to convince me that the Eagles are a pretty good team this week. He was serious. I’m not going to listen to his football opinions anymore.
8 Andy – Broncos over Browns – Case Keenum starting for Cleveland without Hunt, Chubb, two tackles, possibly two starting WR … The full-strength Browns are better than Denver, but not sure this group will do much better than the Cleveland teams of most of the first 20 years of this century.
9 Tony – Saints over Seahawks – Yes, Seattle is at home. And the Saints are susceptible to wild swings, with Jameis Winston under center. But the Seahawks still have Geno Smith starting.
10 Andy – Falcons over Dolphins – Just traded Matt Ryan in a competitive superflex fantasy league, ensuring that he’ll spend the rest of the season carrying Atlanta to the NFC playoffs.
11 Tony – Ravens over Bengals – This game won’t be a cake walk for the Ravens, but they’ve been hot as of late, and I’m still not convinced the Bengals have beaten anyone of note. If the Bengals can figure out a way to win this one, the North is theirs to take.
12 Andy – 49ers over Colts – This is kind of a dart throw, but also a feeling. San Francisco will run them into the ground.
13 Tony – Titans over Chiefs – Here’s an upset pick … but this is just how bad the Chiefs defense has been. I understand the Chiefs being favorites, even on the road — but 5.5 points? Patrick Mahomes has already thrown more interceptions than he has since his first full year as a starter, despite what his mommy thinks about the interception rules–and the Chiefs are giving up 4.8 yards per carry, 4th worst in the NFL–possibly aided because they’ve only had the 8th fewest rushing attempts against, because their pass defense is even worse (and NFL coaches like to out-think themselves). Derrick Henry might put his third 3-TD game in a row.
