Shhhhhhhh!!!!. The competence continues. Andy and Tony took a couple grand more in mythical earnings from their week eight bets. Pretty soon this imaginary money may buy them a real trip to Vegas. … Well, probably not.

But it’s a whole different segment this season. Here are the standings:

Week 8 W/L Week 8 $ Season W/L Season $ Bankroll
Andy 2-1-1 $1,144 16-14-2 $2,349 $12,349
Tony 2-2 $1,290 17-14-1 $4,708 $14,708

Andy: Not crazy about this week’s lines, but playing with the mythical casino’s money makes me feel a little bit better about that.

$1,500 – New England (-3.5, +101) at Baltimore – The Ravens are solid and may be the AFC’s best bet to beat the Patriots with their top-notch run game, but New England is playing so well. I’m just not betting against them until I actually see someone come out on top against them.

$1,000 – New York Jets (-3, -110) at Miami – It’s clear the front office is willing to go 0-16 in Miami this season. Guessing the players don’t feel the same way about it, but management just hasn’t left them a lot to work with. This line started at -6, which I would not have touched. But Sam Darnold’s rough last couple weeks probably pulled that number down. He will rebound in this game.

$1,000 – Dallas (-7, -109) at New York Giants – The Cowboys are mired somewhere well above average but below great. The Giants are much, much worse.

$500 – Chicago (+200 money line) at Philadelphia – The Bears are probably the league’s biggest disappointment in 2019. But there’s still no more talented defense out there. It’s decimated a bit, but in a week when none of the other money lines are all that appetizing, I’ll take a bet that Chicago avenges its “double-doink” playoff loss from last season.

Tony: Another week of making money by splitting bets…I guess it’s better than losing money by splitting bets.

$1,500 –  New England (-3.5, -107) at Baltimore – I know it’s a road game, but the early line is moving towards Baltimore—it opened at -6.5.  Not sure I see it—Lamar Jackson has been solid, but the Patriots defense has been killer—if Jackson can cover here, things really might get interesting in the AFC after all.

$1,500 – San Francisco (-8, -105) at Arizona – Maybe I should start believing in the 49ers…I think I’ll be glad I got this at -8 by kickoff on Thursday night.

$1,000 – Green Bay at Los Angeles Chargers: Over 46 (-110) – Seems like a couple of teams that can put up points.

$500 – Chicago (+190 money line) over Philadelphia – I’m putting bets in pretty early this week, so not a lot of money line movement yet—might regret this one by midweek, but as bad as the Bears have looked, their defense keeps them in games. Maybe a week on the road will help their fortunes overall.
