Andy & Tony joined a startup, 50 player IDP dynasty league this offseason that starts 11 on offense, 11 on defense. Both came out of the draft thinking they had a good chance to win it…neither are doing well. However, comparing the two teams, Tony has almost 100 more potential points than Andy…but Andy has the better record, nearly 110 more Points For. Our reason for bring this up? Tony appears to be really, really bad at picking the actual starting lineups.

Andy didn’t just eke it out, either–he doubled up Tony in Week 5, highlighted by his Flex play of Chase Claypool for 44.6 points.

Week 5 Season Total points
Andy 208.18 4-1 749.24
Tony 103.58 1-4 624.98

Tony

QB – Matt Stafford @ Jac – $6,400 – Back to slightly cheaper QB because…why the hell not.

RB – Ezekiel Elliott vs Ari – $8,600 – Injury to Dak means the Cowboys rely heavily on Elliott.

RB – Alexander Mattison vs Atl – $6,600 – Dalvin Cook is out, Mattison is more than competent as his replacement.

WR – Calvin Ridley @ Min – $7,900 – He’s not been as good the last couple of weeks, but the Vikings secondary should cure that.

WR – Kenny Golladay @ Jac – $6,900 – Managed to still sneak one stack in here…but maybe I should stop using guys I need to score in real fantasy football.

WR – Justin Jefferson vs Atl- $6,000 – I was trying not to double up teammates as much this week…but this was my last pick.

TE – Robert Tonyan @ TB – $5,100 – Probably shouldn’t look this way with Adams back for the Pack…but maybe I’ll finally get lucky.

Flex – Antonio Gibson @ NYG – $5,200 – He seems to be getting more and more touches, and it’s the Giants.

DST – Dolphins vs NYJets – $2,300 – If you’re cheap and you play the Jets, you’re going to end up in my lineup.

Andy

Andy – I’m violating a couple personal philosophies in this lineup, gambling not only on a not-very-good home team this week, but doubling down by doing so with the team’s less-than-stellar signal caller. Here goes:

QB – Kirk Cousins vs ATL – $5,900 – A bad Atlanta team is beat up in the secondary and, while Cousins still isn’t exactly thriving in big money games, this is the kind of game in which he thrives. Although, he may feel some pressure in this game trying to beat another bad team in an attempt to maintain his role as the QB next year, rather than turning over the reins to a top one or two pick.

RB – Alexander Mattison vs ATL – $6,600 – This pick I actually feel more comfortable with. With Dalvin Cook out, Mattison should be primed to show the team why it made a mistake re-signing the star RB this offseason rather than letting the baton pass into his hands. A couple TDs and 100-plus yards wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

RB – Derrick Henry vs HOU – $7,800 – The Texans finally got a win last week, but congratulations. Who doesn’t beat Jacksonville? It’s hard to say that Houston’s struggles aren’t all Bill O’Brien, because he both coached the team and assembled the roster. Regardless of blame, the Texans are terrible and Henry will crush them this weekend.

WR – Justin Jefferson vs ATL – $6,000 – Cousins has to compile his stats somehow. The coverage will go to Thielen, so Jefferson should be open to get his.

WR – Chris Godwin vs GBP – $6,800 – Godwin has left both of the games he did play early this season and he still managed to compile 13 targets, 11 receptions, 143 yards and a score in something around a quarter-and-a-half of work. The opportunities will be there, if he can stay on the field.

TE – Mark Andrews @ PHL – $6,700 – He’s averaging six targets and a touchdown a week. Philadelphia is excellent at sucking against TEs. Sign me up.

Flex RB – Antonio Gibson @ NYG – $5,200 – He’s been in double-digits every week except the first one. The Giants are horrible. Game on.

DST – Washington Football Team @ NYB – $2,200 – Good defensive line versus less than stellar offensive line AND cheap.
